Main sewer line

Water comes up in my basement floor drain

When the main is blocked, every fixture in the house drains into the same stalled pipe, and the lowest drain in the house shows it first.

Do this first

  • Stop running water: no laundry, no showers, no dishwasher.

  • Keep people and pets off a wet floor and away from the drain.

  • Call us, or text a photo of the drain and the cleanout.

  • Don't plunge a toilet that is overflowing; it won't help.

A main-line visit

Four steps from the cleanout

  1. 01

    Step 1: Find the cleanout

The operator opens the cap, or pulls a toilet if there isn't one. That is an add-on to the flat rate, agreed on the phone before we book.

  2. 02

Step 2: Jet toward the street

The nozzle pulls itself down the line, scouring the wall, and a cutting head goes on if there are roots.

  3. 03

Step 3: Look with the camera

A camera goes down the cleaned line so you can see roots, a bellied section or a break, if you added it.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Report and invoice

You get a written report with photos and the flat rate on the invoice. If the camera shows a break, we stop and tell you the repair options.

Honest limits

What jetting can't fix

A jet clears what is in the pipe. It can't repair the pipe. If the camera shows a cracked clay line, a section pushed out of line by a tree root, or a belly that holds water, the clog will come back until the pipe is repaired.

When that's what we see, we show you the footage, tell you what the repair options are, and stop. Another crew quotes the repair. You pay the jet and camera rows you agreed to, and nothing more.

A written quote

A main line with roots, camera included

Every row of the work is listed with one total, texted to you before the truck rolls.

  • Quote: main sewer line

Cleanout at the foundation, 80 feet to the street, roots in the line.

    • Jet clean, main sewer line
    • Root-cutting head, added
    • Camera look and written report

Questions about the sewer main

How do I know it's the main line?

More than one fixture is slow or gurgling, or water rises in the lowest drain when something upstairs runs. One slow sink is usually its own branch.

Will the roots come back?

Often, yes, because the roots are still looking for water at the pipe's joints. A camera report shows how bad it is, so you can plan a repair if the line needs one.

What if I have a septic tank?

We jet from the cleanout to the tank. The tank itself is pumped by a septic hauler, not by us.

Do you pull permits?

Cleaning a line doesn't need a permit. A repair that opens the ground can, and the crew that quotes the repair handles that.
